God of the Impossible – Lincoln Brewster [Review + Giveaway]

‘God of the Impossible’ is Lincoln Brewster’s brand new worship album releasing globally on 4th May although a pre-sale is on now. This is definitely a project I’ve been waiting for with excitement simply because of Lincoln’s previous release—’Oxygen’, which pretty much blew me away!

This record is loaded with 15 tracks—11 new songs, 1 new instrumental and acoustic versions of 3 of the new songs.

In the words of Brewster himself, this album is a reminder that “God is always working behind the scenes.” He also adds, “The more of life I see, the more I need to remember that He really is the ‘God of the Impossible’. He is our Father who holds every circumstance, He is in complete control and nothing can separate us from His love. Throughout the years, there have been times when I looked at situations and thought, ‘that’s not possible’, but, in God’s way and in His timing, He’s made it happen. Hopefully, these songs are reminders that our Father is the God of Ephesians 3:20.”

Songwriters on this project include Mitch Wong (Planetshakers) and Mia Fieldes (The Belonging/Hillsong) apart from his buddies from his Bayside worship team, Thrive.

Track List – ‘God of the Impossible’

  1. Deep Down (Walk Through Fire)
  2. Your Love Is Amazing
  3. Turn It Around
  4. While I Wait
  5. Loyal
  6. Amazing God
  7. Here I Am
  8. Everything
  9. Higher
  10. God of the Impossible
  11. No One Like Our God
  12. Deep Down (Walk Through Fire) [Acoustic] [Deluxe]
  13. Loyal (Acoustic) [Deluxe]
  14. While I Wait (Acoustic) [Deluxe]
  15. Relativity (Instrumental) [Deluxe]

About the Songs

If you liked ‘Oxygen’, you’ll be right at home with ‘God of the Impossible’. The production, musical style, guitar work are all reminiscent of his previous project (in a good way). Themes like God’s love, trust, waiting, adoration, faith, surrender and more are covered throughout the project at the level of musical artistry that we’ve come to expect from Brewster.

Lyrically, loved the raw and straightforward lines in many of the songs. Here’s an example from “While I Wait”:

I live by faith and not by sight

Sometimes miracles take time

The album also features a good balance of fast, medium and slower songs and should appeal to a wide audience.

Here’s a video of “Here I Am” to get an idea of the sounds in this album:

My Favorites

While this is a strong release from Brewster with every song pretty much unskippable, these stood out some more for me:

  • No one like our God
  • Loyal
  • The God of the impossible
  • Deep down (Walk though fire) [Acoustic version]
  • Here I am
  • While I wait
  • Amazing God
  • Relativity (instrumental)
